Bibb Institute for the Arts
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." - Albert Einstein
The arts are a proven conduit for learning. Students who are exposed to the arts develop stronger literacy and problem-solving skills that translate to improved academic performance, participation, attendance, behavior, and improved standardized test performance. Exposure to the arts also significantly decreases negative behavior by “at risk” youth. Through the arts, students develop skills that eventually make them better contributors in the workplace and in the communities where they live.
Bibb County Institute for the Arts is a partnership between the Bibb County Public Schools and Macon Arts that teaches teachers how to use arts-integrated learning in their teaching every day. This partnership also bridges gaps in fine arts exposure in school through afterschool programs and artist residencies.
