Taste of Music 2009: Docs Who Rock

Saturday, August 15, 7–10 p.m.
The Blacksmith Shop, 655 Poplar Street
$40 Admission

This year’s Taste of Music fundraiser takes Central Georgia’s “Docs Who Rock” from the exam room to the kitchen to test their “tableside” manners and culinary skill. The Blacksmith Shop on Poplar Street will be hopping with MDs madly creating their best appetizers, entrees, and desserts on Saturday, August 15, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Other prominent physicians will trade surgical instruments for the musical kind to play with Alternative Medicine, a band that will have you rocking all night long. The silent auction is the other rockin’ star of the evening. You can bid on original ceramics and fine art, tickets to the hottest events, vacations, luxury services, décor and gifts at all prices. Proceeds from Taste of Music support Macon Arts’ education programs and community outreach.

This year’s Taste of Music honorees are Larry Fennelly, the arts columnist for The Telegraph for more than 3 decades; and James and Jodi Palmer, publishers of Macon Magazine since 2000. Through their coverage of the arts, these three have elevated awareness of the arts, promoted community involvement in the arts, and advocated for the arts in the pages of their publications. Their support has been critical to the continued growth of the arts in Macon and in Central Georgia.

Tickets for Taste of Music are $40 and include all the food, beer, wine and music you can imagine! To purchase tickets in advance, call or come by Macon Arts, 486 First St., weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call 478-743-6940. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event. Complimentary tickets to Taste of Music are part of the perks for Macon Arts members and sponsors at the $600 level or higher.
