Artist statement…
Joan has been a potter for nearly 25 years and her work consists primarily of hand-built, delicately textured pieces. Some of her pieces are functional and many are simply sculptural forms. She has spent a lot of time perfecting the art of Raku firing. Many of her pieces employ this Japanese art form. Joan graduated from Wesleyan College in 1988 with a BFA in Ceramics and has exhibited at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Macon Arts Alliance and Wesleyan College. She was a partner at Napier Avenue Clay Studio for 10 years, and is now a partner in our new venture, Macon Mud.
