Artist statement…
Oribe traditions, Voysey, current trends in Scottish design, the stylings of Andre 3000, traditions of woodcut, linocut and etching, and the concept of drawing things that may not be recognizable objects influence my work. I wish my work were as free as that of Andy Nasisse, though I know everything he does is amazingly calculated. I find that forms are only there as a basis for what I will eventually draw. I stay with feet planted on terra firma because my daughter comes home every few months or so and says, “Mama, what in hell is that?”
